I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all my crew who worked their hearts out at our 30th Anniversary treffen .
We were caught by surprise with the amount of bikes that turned up (over 300) and we were swamped for a while but with all hands on board we managed to pull off one of the best treffens ever in Ireland ,All day long I have been getting phone calls ,messages and emails from people from all over to say thank you ,They had a brilliant time here in Wexford and the weather held out .
Thank you to the wonderful work of the Marshals ,who did an excellent job and were complimented by everybody who were on the lovely runs ,to the Inscription crew who were under severe pressure on the opening day ,but got through it without complaining, the gate security who were on the ball and kept the site secure and without incident ,the shop/ dinner ticket/tea and coffee staff who again worked for long long hours without moaning .
The Staff and management at the Ferrybank camping park who were so accommodating and helpful ,Sinead and Clare and the gang at the pool reception and not forgetting Mary who kept the showers and toilets spotless.
The Riverbank hotel Management and staff who fed us some wonderful food over the course of the treffen and managed to hold it all together on Sat night .
The entertainment went down well with all age groups and the Irish night was just a knockout ,I was not expecting such a show from The Wexford academy of Irish dance with their show Celtic Roots ,it was fantastic . Streetwise ,who played for us each night and kept the crowd dancing (and the crew) and PJ the crazy DJ from Wexford
I am sure you will not forget him in a hurry .
The feedback I am getting all day is that the Light parade was the hightlight of the whole weekend ,I know it was long ,a round trip of 80 km ,but every village and town was stuffed with thousands of spectators all along the route , when we turned on to the main street of Gorey last night I could not believe my eyes ,estimated figures from the gardai was around 10,000 people .it was mayhem, the full length of the street from wall to wall was so packed that we barely had room to get the bikes up and down , A memorable night for all the locals who were out in foce with babies ,children ,teenagers and grandparents , this to me was worth every minute of the 80 k run . And last but not least all the members of the Irish club and the European clubs who made the effort to come to this treffen ,thank you one and all .I hope I am not leaving out anybody ,if I am I apologise as I am wrecked tired and need a good sleep .. Ciaran
