A few years ago I bought this misfortunate yoke that was advertised on donedeal.ie

It was running, (Barely) brakes were locked up, there was plenty of rust and green mould. It had spent about 7 years parked against a wall exposed to the elements.

There are a few problems that I spotted

Paint job not the greatest.

Brakes stuck, need to be freed up.

Side stand frame section needs replacement. I have 2 spares.

Tyres need to be replaced.

Timing belts need to be done

Some issues with the wiring loom in places. Alternator connecter replaced by 16amp connectors.

There are some bits of corrosion on the frame, mostly the removable section.

Seat has a few splits.

Front left indicator hanging on by the cable.

Various aftermarket bits to be removed.

The rear engine casing was removed at some point to fix an oil leak. Looks like silicone was used as a gasket.

Exhaust system is Motad stainless.

It had a custom paint job done at some point including this fishy looking Faux tank.

All the brightwork was in bad shape with lots of rust.

I decided to remove all the aftermarket stuff to see what the rest looked like.

Here are bits I took off:

Tackled the brakes then, they were all stuck. Replaced the calipers with some I had in stock and also the master cylinder. Got all the brakes working eventually.

While checking the engine oil level I found the dipstick had been replaced by this bolt:

Shortly after it was put up on the bench to do some repairs. It was to be on the bench for over a year before completion.

One of the first things to go was the rotting removable frame section:

As you can see, it was pretty rotten.

The threads were also stripped on the frame bolts.

Drained the coolant and removed the radiator. The water pump can be clearly see here and it is the later metal impeller type. It was checked for free play and seemed ok.

One of the radiator holding bolts had broken off at some stage and the frame had a hole drilled to take a plain bolt. This will be repaired at the same time as the frame bolts with stripped threads.

The stripped bolts were cut out of the frame and new bolts were fitted and welded in place. A new radiator bolt was also fitted.

There were a lot of rusty places on the frame. A lot of the pipework and the wiring loom was removed to gain access for repairs.

While it was off, the radiator got a cleanup. Fan was removed and checked over.
